Kala India began with a simple idea: the artisan families behind handcrafted Indian home textiles deserved a fairer share of what their work is worth, and customers deserved to know the hands behind every piece.
While shelves filled up with machine-made imitations passed off as handmade, the skilled block-printing families earn a fraction of what their craft was truly worth. We set out to build something different: a brand that works directly with GI-recognized block-printing communities in Bagru, Sanganer, and Kutch, and brings their work home to you at a fair price for everyone involved.
